If Apple Intelligence is not working on your iPhone, start with the exact symptom. A missing feature, an unfinished download and Siri not hearing you need different checks. Confirm compatibility before changing settings, then check storage, language and the particular feature that failed. A factory reset should not be your opening move.

Match the symptom before trying a fix

Write down the app, the action you tried and the exact error. For example, “Siri will not answer my voice” is a more useful starting point than “AI is broken.” Test with a harmless sample, not a private email or a photo you would not want shared.
1. Confirm your iPhone and language are supported
Apple’s current Apple Intelligence requirements list iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. The standard iPhone 15 is not included. Installing newer iOS software does not add unsupported hardware to that list.
The next-generation features require iOS 27. Apple’s storage requirements are up to 14 GB for iPhone 17 Pro models and later, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo, and up to 8 GB for other supported iPhones. These are on-device storage figures, not data used by each request.
Device language and Siri language must match a supported language. After a Siri language change, features can remain unavailable until that language finishes downloading. Individual features also have their own language and region restrictions. Do not change your Apple Account country or use a VPN to work around eligibility.
2. Separate an iOS update from an AI download
A software update still installing is a different problem from an AI feature waiting for setup. Check which screen contains the message before following advice to restart a download. Do not interrupt an installation just because an AI option has not appeared yet.
If iOS itself will not update, Apple’s software-update troubleshooting guide recommends checking compatibility, internet and available storage. Use WiFi, avoid competing downloads and keep the phone powered during a wireless installation. For a repeated update-server error, Apple suggests another network or a computer-based update. That guidance is for an iOS update, not proof that every AI download has the same remedy.
For storage, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Review the recommendations instead of deleting files at random. Apple’s iPhone storage guide distinguishes offloading an app, which keeps its documents and data, from deleting it, which removes related data too. Check that you can download an app again before offloading anything important. Do not erase photos, messages or authentication apps simply to see whether an AI feature returns.
3. Check whether you are waiting for Siri AI
Having Apple Intelligence does not mean every Siri AI feature is ready. Apple’s Siri AI setup instructions describe a separate beta setup: open Settings > Siri > Try Siri AI (Beta), then follow the voice and privacy prompts. If Siri is off, enable it first. A download follows setup, and high demand can put you on a waitlist. Apple gives no universal completion time.
Siri AI currently supports English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with region and platform restrictions. It is not available to users under 13. Its iPhone availability in the EU is not the same as general Apple Intelligence availability there. Check the current requirements if you travel or use a non-U.S. Apple Account; do not assume an American tutorial applies to every account.
A daily usage-limit notice is another distinct case. Repeatedly restarting the phone is not a reliable way to obtain more access. Read the notice and retry according to the feature’s instructions rather than repeatedly downloading or resetting things.
4. If Siri is the only part that fails, check Siri
Apple’s Siri troubleshooting steps begin with an internet connection and confirming Siri is enabled. Current settings use Siri > Requests; some versions use Apple Intelligence & Siri > Talk & Type to Siri. Check voice activation there. If spoken requests fail, try typing or using the side button. If Siri responds silently, check Responses > Prefer Spoken Responses and the volume.
If Siri remains absent from Settings after a restart, Apple notes that some VPN profiles can restrict it. On a work or school phone, ask the administrator to check the policy. Do not remove management profiles or disable security software as a blanket fix.

What to collect if it still will not work
- Your exact iPhone model and iOS version, without the serial number.
- The feature, app and complete error wording, with personal details removed.
- Whether the issue began after an update, language change or new-phone setup.
- Which single checks changed the result, and which did not.
Give that short record to Apple Support if the documented requirements are met and the problem persists. Change one thing at a time so you can tell what helped. Keep private reports, account credentials and message contents out of public troubleshooting posts.
